Om Sri Ganapataye Namaha

Meaning: Salutations to Lord Ganapati.

Interpretation: Sri Viswamji is the supreme Guru. He is Guru to the whole universe. The Lord of the universe, Lord Viswanadha is Sri Datta Ganapati. Salutations to that Ganapati.

Lord Ganapati is the Lord of all Groups. He is being worshipped since primitive times, and also considered as the main power. Any temple you visit, there is first a temple or idol of Lord Ganapati. Devotees first pray to Lord Ganapati before praying to any other God or Goddess. Sri Viswamji following the tradition has constructed the Varasiddhi Vinayaka temple near the main entrance in Viswanagar, in the Hills of Kondaveeti, near Guntur.. The area of the Vinayaka temple is considered the main area in Viswanagar. That is the main place where the main power of Sri Viswamji is considered to be residing. On April 27th, 1992, Sri Viswayogi Viswamji with his divine hands installed the idol of  Varasiddhi Vinayaka. Speaking during the inauguration function, Sri Kartalam Peethadhipati said, “The idol of Varasiddhi Vinayaka installed by Sampoorna Dattavatar, Sri Viswayogi Viswamji, is special in the sense, that though in outward appearance it is an idol of Lord Vinayaka, in reality it is not just an idol of Lord Vinayaka. It is verily Sri Viswayogi Viswamji’s idol that means Lord Dattatreya’s idol. Lord Vinayaka is an embodiment of Lord Datta, i.e. Parabrahma. In that idol the universal power is ever present”. Just as an elephant with the folds on its forehead communicates with the other elephants, at a distance, so too Sri Viswamji keeps sending messages and looks up to his devotees, wherever they are, this is what the Varasiddhi Vinayaka idol conveys to us. Any one who sees the idol, and prays there, get special blessings, the members of the Viswamandir very well know this.

Those who pray to Lord Vinayaka on the Vinayaka Chaturthi day are well aware of his Lordship. Lord Ganapati bestows wisdom and realization. Both these powers are under his control. What these powers do is let deeds done with good intentions meet with success, and placing obstacles for bad deeds.  Ganapati is the powers of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati in union. He is the guide who delivers to the God we worship, whatever prayers we offer. He is setting an ideal for the mankind through his life. Who so ever prays to him with devotion, he bestows auspiciousness, realization and intellect, and showers his grace so that all tasks are accomplished with wisdom.

Lord Vinayaka is embodiment of education. His knowledge is very sharp. He is a great poet among poets. Sage Vyasa used Lord Ganapati for writing the epic Mahabarata, While writing when his pen broke, he immediately pulled out his tusk, and used it as a pen, thereby showing us that one should not waste any time. He is called as Eka Dantaya, because of being left with only one tusk.

Lord Ganapati is symbolic of Sattvic food. His behavior is Sattvic(balanced) in nature, because of taking Sattvic food. He does not have any desires. He has made desire is vehicle. The mouse depending upon the smell wishes for everything, and craves for it. The vehicle as a mouse is symbolic of the fact that Lord Ganapati has cravings and desires under his control.

Ganapati is the basis for all life, just as OM is the basis of all sounds. For all living beings and all endeavors, Lord Vinayaka qualifies to be worshipped first. Just as the footprints of all the animals in a forest merge into the footsteps of an elephant, Lord Vinayaka merges into himself, the footsteps of all living beings. The elephant head of Lord Vinayaka symbolizes all good qualities. One who ha proven that the whole world is in him, is Lord Vinayaka.  We believe that because of eating food, Vinayaka has a big belly. In reality what it means is a stomach that has the whole universe in it. In the same way, Sri Viswayogi Viswamji is filling the problems of all human beings in his stomach, and showing them how to overcome these problems, thereby correcting and guiding them to be ideal people. He is filling himself with the whole universe and setting an ideal for the world. He is indeed Viswa Ganapati.

Ganapati also means divinity in humanity. It also means humanity with human instinct. In any good task you undertake he protects you like God. If you do any wrong deeds he will torment you like an animal. So what Vinayaka philosophy preaches is to do good tasks with good intentions and good intellect. As we all see this is the philosophy of Sri Viswayogi Viswamji too. Lord Ganapati drives away all obstacles and blesses any work undertaken by us with good intentions, so that we meet with success. In a similar way, Sri Viswamji also showers his divine blessings and grace so that we are successful in our endeavors Merciful and kind glances of a Guru, drive away all obstacles, and we meet with success in whatever we undertake, The Upanishads also exhort this truth.

Om Sri Gurave Namaha

Meaning:  Salutations to Guru

Interpretation: Salutations to Guru Sri Viswamji. For us human beings who forget even the creator because of delusions, it is only Guru who can drive away our delusions. The one who drives away the darkness of ignorance from our life is also called a Guru. The one who removes the darkness and preaches wisdom is Guru. Guru drives away ignorance and guides us in the journey towards light or wisdom.

Guru Brahma Gurur Vishnu

Gurur Devo Maheshwara

Gurur sakshat Parabrahma

Tasmai Sree Gurave Namah

This is the Guru Stotram. Guru is Lord Brahma, Guru is Lord Vishnu, Guru is Lord Siva. The Guru Geeta also says that the Guru is embodiment of supreme Parabrahma.

Guru is like an alarm timepiece. Alarm timepiece wakes us from sleep, and reminds us of our duties. Guru drives away the darkness of ignorance, and lights the lamp of knowledge (Sai Amritvani 6) The word Guru is the sign of God. If you take Guru’s help he can easily take you to God. He will show you that there is no difference between God and any Living thing, for this reason Guru is verily God. To offer prayers to Guru’s Padukas (footwear) is offering prayers to Guru.

The Guru Poornima, Full moon in the month of Ashada is very special. It is also called Vyasa Poornima. The practice of Sanaatana Dharma is to offer prayers to Guru on this day. It is the auspicious day when prayers are offered to all the Guru’s in the universe. Grace of Guru is needed to climb to the peak of prosperity. It is necessary to focus the mind on the Lotus feet of the Guru. Grace of Guru is obtained by good values of our life, and good deeds of past birth. It is very important to have grace of Guru, to go from state of humanity to divinity. If we absorb and put into practice with dedication whatever the Guru teaches, one will definitely get the grace of the Guru. With the help of Guru we can gain the infinite power of God, in desired portions.

During his discourse on Guru Poornima day(12th July 1995), Sri Viswamji by means of a small example told what Guru’s merciful glances can do. “Valmiki was a hunter. Some agree with this and some do not. There is lot of happiness in thinking that he was a hunter. Valmiki used to rob anyone passing through the forest. He would not spare any one. Such a person, by the grace of a Guru has written the Ramayana, even before the birth of Sri Rama. This proves that the merciful glances of Guru are so powerful.

 Satsangatve Nissangatvam

Nissangatve Nirmohatvam

Nirmohatve Nischalatatvam

Nischala tatve Jeevan Mukti

Sankaracharya by means of this composition has conveyed that company of good persons has a very good effect on a human being.  Our Sanaatana Dharma is very special. We should always protect this Dharma. We should make India a very powerful country. All the prayers we offer are to make ourselves powerful. Speaking about the excellence of Gurus, Sri Viswamji says that even powerful Mahatmas, since they are in human form, are bound by rules and regulations. So the body has ill health and diseases. Just because of this reason we should not assume that they are ordinary people like us.

Guru is mother, Guru is father

Guru is God, Guru is everything

Guru is all, Guru is truth.

Sings Viswamji in his discourses. Guru is like a mother. Often when we are returning after visiting him, he asks us to call him and let him know, as soon as we reach back. Only a mother says these words to her children when they go out of town. We are getting a thousand times more love and affection from him, than we are getting from our mother. Guru is father. Our father arranges for all that we need. When necessary, the father is strict with the child and disciplines him. Like a father Sri Viswamji also arranges for everything, trains us or guides us. When we are on the wrong path he behaves harshly with us. This is only with the intention of putting us on the right pat, and for no other reason. Just as a mother showers love and affection on us, and protects us at all times and under all circumstances a Guru too shows us our goal in life, and guides us by being with us at every step. Guru also preaches us wisdom. He makes us walk on the divine path. That is why he is mother, father and God. A guru is one who drives away pain, suffering and agony from our minds, and happily guides and protects us. It is only Guru who supports you at every step in life, he protects you like an eyelid protects the eye, walks you like a guide, shows you the light, and is there as light. Guru is the one who gives wisdom, drives away ignorance, stands on the other side to correct you to be divine, and finally merges you into him.

When we go to Sri Viswamji, there is something that is distinct and special that we observe about him. His magnanimous nature, his Advaitic philosophy, loving nature draws us to him. Sri Viswamji teaches us that all embodiments of Guru, all Gods are worthy of our prayers and power existing in all of them is the same. He advises everyone who comes to him to chant the mantra, “Om Sri Sai Ram Gurudeva Datta”, or any other mantra of their choice, whenever it is possible all day, especially first thing after getting up and before going to bed at night.
